Feature

Accreditation Verification

Sparky tracks electrician accreditations — NICEIC, NAPIT, Part P, ECA, and OLEV — so customers can see they're hiring a properly qualified, certified professional every time.

How It Works

1

Electrician Adds Accreditations

When joining Sparky, electricians list their professional accreditations: NICEIC registration, NAPIT membership, Part P competent person scheme status, ECA membership, and OLEV (OZEV) approved installer certification for EV charging work.

2

Sparky Records Credentials

Sparky records submitted accreditations and displays them on electrician profiles. Customers can see exactly which accreditations an electrician has declared.

3

Verified Badge Displayed

Electricians with accreditations on file receive a verified badge on their profile. Customers can see exactly which accreditations are listed, building trust before any work is agreed.

4

Accreditations Matched to Jobs

When Sparky's AI matches jobs, it cross-references the required accreditations for the work type. Notifiable work under Part P only goes to Part P registered electricians. EV charger installations only go to OLEV approved installers.

5

Ongoing Compliance

Accreditations have renewal dates. Sparky tracks these and prompts electricians to update their credentials, ensuring profiles stay current and customers always see accurate accreditation status.

Benefits for Electricians

  • Your tracked accreditations set you apart from competitors without credentials on file, attracting customers who value certified professionals.
  • Verified badges build instant trust with customers before you've even spoken — your credentials speak for you.
  • Receive job matches specifically because you hold the right accreditations. Part P work goes to Part P electricians, OLEV work goes to OLEV installers.
  • Sparky reminds you when accreditations are due for renewal, helping you stay compliant and maintain your verified badge.
  • Professional profile presentation showcases your qualifications in a format customers can easily understand.

Benefits for Customers

  • Every electrician on Sparky has their accreditations on file, so you can see their credentials before booking.
  • Easily see which accreditations an electrician holds and understand what each one means for your specific job.
  • For notifiable work under Part P, you're guaranteed to be matched with a competent person scheme member who can self-certify.
  • For EV charger installations, you'll only be matched with OLEV (OZEV) approved installers as required for grant eligibility.
  • Peace of mind knowing the person working on your electrical installation is properly qualified and registered.

Under the Hood

Accreditation tracking is integrated into the electrician onboarding flow and the AI job matching pipeline. Electricians submit their accreditation details (NICEIC, NAPIT, Part P, ECA, OLEV/OZEV) during profile setup, and these are stored in the Convex database with status flags. Submitted accreditations are displayed on electrician profiles with badge indicators. During job matching, the Gemini 3 Flash AI model determines which accreditations are required based on the job type — using its knowledge of Part P Building Regulations, 18th Edition standards, and OLEV requirements — and filters the electrician pool accordingly. The Convex query layer enforces that only electricians with the required accreditations on file appear in match results for regulated work. Accreditation expiry dates are tracked, and Convex scheduled functions trigger renewal reminders via the multi-channel notification system (push, SMS, email) ahead of expiry dates.

Frequently Asked Questions

What accreditations does Sparky track?
Sparky tracks NICEIC registration, NAPIT membership, Part P competent person scheme status, ECA (Electrical Contractors' Association) membership, and OLEV/OZEV approved installer certification for EV charging installations.
How does the tracking work?
When an electrician submits their accreditation details during signup, Sparky records them and displays them on the electrician's profile. Electricians with accreditations on file receive the verified badge on their profile.
Why do accreditations matter for my job?
Different types of electrical work require different qualifications. Notifiable work under Part P (like consumer unit replacements or new circuits in kitchens/bathrooms) must be done by a competent person scheme member. EV charger installations require OLEV approved installer status for grant eligibility. Sparky ensures the right electrician is matched to your job.
What is Part P and why does it matter?
Part P is the section of UK Building Regulations covering electrical safety in dwellings. Certain electrical work (notifiable work) must either be done by a registered competent person who can self-certify, or must be inspected by Building Control. Using a Part P registered electrician means work is self-certified — simpler, faster, and fully compliant.
What's the difference between NICEIC and NAPIT?
Both NICEIC and NAPIT are competent person scheme operators approved by the government. They both allow registered electricians to self-certify notifiable work under Part P. The main difference is the organisation — both provide equivalent regulatory standing. Sparky recognises and tracks both.
What if an electrician's accreditation expires?
Sparky tracks accreditation expiry dates and sends renewal reminders to electricians. If an accreditation lapses, the verified badge is removed and the electrician won't be matched with jobs requiring that specific accreditation until they renew and update their profile.
